The main decisions taken by the Executive Board is announced!

European Athletics has shared the report on the main decisions taken by the Executive Board in its video conference meeting held on the 10 June:
European Athletics Events
The following European Athletics Events venues were allocated by the Executive Board:
European Athletics Team Championships, 2nd League 2021 – Valmiera/LAT
European Athletics Team Championship, 3rd League 2021 – Nicosia/CYP
The venue for the European Athletics Team Championships, 1st League 2021 will be decided in the next Executive Board meeting on 23 July.
Following the postponement of the 2020 edition of the European Athletics U18 Championships new dates for this event are 26 to 29 August 2021.
European Athletics Convention 2020
Further to the cancellation of this year’s Golden Tracks, considering the ongoing uncertainty surrounding travel between many countries in Europe caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and the possibility that some Member Federations may not to be able to attend in person it was agreed to transform the annual European Athletics Convention scheduled to take place in October this year in Tallinn/EST into an online e-Convention. Further information about the content and format of this e-Convention will be provided opportunely. We will be looking forward for the European Athletics Family gathering in the 2021 Convention in Lausanne/SUI.
Combined Events Challenge
Following the decision to discontinue the European Combined Events Team Championships it was the European Athletics Council compromise to the Member Federations to find alternative competition opportunities for the Combined Events athletes in Europe. Executive Board approved the creation of a European Combined Events Meeting Challenge to start in 2021. The respective Principles for Selection and Management of European Combined Events Challenge Meetings in Appendix 1 will be also shortly available on the European Athletics website. The application timelines and procedures will be sent in due time.
Member Federations and European Athletics Leaders’ E-Meetings
Series of e-meetings with groups of five Member Federations and their leaders have been scheduled for this summer. During these e-meetings European Athletics Executive Board members will exchange with Presidents and CEOs of all Member Federations about current challenges and plans both on continental and national level. You can find thorough information with details and schedule for this initiative in our Circular Letter 12/2020 from 12 June.
Black Lives Matter
In his opening statement to the Executive Board, European Athletics Interim President, Dobromir Karamarinov, highlighted the topical issue of racism and the Black Lives Matter campaign that is currently making the news in the USA, Europe and around the world. He reminded the Executive Board members of the existing European Athletics Code of Ethics that states “there shall be no discrimination in Athletics on the basis of race, sex, ethnic origin, colour, culture, religion, political opinion, marital status, sexual orientation or any unfair or other irrelevant factor.”
It should be the duty of Member Federations to work together with athletes and all members of the athletics community to make sure that as a sport we live up to these words.
