Khankendi Ultra Marathon

On February 29-March 4, 2024, the Khankendi - Baku ultramarathon organized for the first time in Azerbaijan with the slogan "Forward with pride" was held as part of the "Sports Week". The participants of the ultramarathon covering a distance of 380 km in 5 days, competition was organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Baku City Circuit and Azerbaijan Athletics Federation. The participants passed the , Khankendi-Yevlax (83 km), Yevlax-Ujar (84 km), Ujar-Hajigabul (88 km), Hajigabul-Gobustan (70 km) and Gobustan-Baku (55 km) stages. In total 63 participants  from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Moldova, Mexico participated in the historical ultramarathon, and 17 participants reached the finish line. The overall winners of the competition - among men, Artyom Aliyev (Azerbaijan), Murat Kaya (Turkey) and Seymur Shahbazov (Azerbaijan) took the top three. Among women, Svetlana Shepeleva (Moldova) and Leyla Abdinova (Azerbaijan) were awarded the first and second places, respectively. The overall winners of the ultra-marathon - the first place - 8000 manats, the second place - 5000 manats, the third place - 3000 manats, and 12 participants who completed the distance of 380 km were awarded with money in the amount of 500 manats.
